Robotic Layout Printing for Internal Fit-Outs

At CadMap, we've developed a cutting-edge robotic layout solution designed to streamline the way internal construction layouts are marked on-site. By automating the transfer of 2D CAD designs directly onto floors, our system replaces traditional, time-consuming manual marking methods with a fast, accurate, and repeatable digital process.

Purpose-Built for Internal Layouts

This autonomous robotic system is ideal for accurately setting out:

  • Partition walls and studwork

  • MEP and HVAC service runs

  • Plumbing and electrical layouts

  • Internal room layouts for residential, commercial, or healthcare buildings

  • Exhibition floor plans, tradeshow booths, or custom parking bays

Compatible with a wide range of surface types—from porous concrete and plywood to non-porous vinyl or terrazzo—it offers flexibility across construction environments.

How It Works

1. Design Preparation

Our workflow begins with your 2D design files, typically in DWG or DXF format. Using our proprietary software plugin, layout data is extracted, embedded with printing instructions, and uploaded to a secure cloud-based platform for version control and team collaboration. 2. On-Site Setup

Control points are established on the site, and a robotic total station is positioned to orient and guide the printer. The robot uses a built-in prism and sensor array to communicate with the station, ensuring millimeter-level positioning.

3. Web-Controlled Execution

From any connected device—laptop, tablet, or phone—you can initiate print jobs via a browser-based control panel. Operators can select specific layout elements to print, adjust ink settings, and monitor progress in real time. Once started, the robot navigates the site autonomously, printing lines, arcs, labels, and symbols directly onto the surface.

4. Obstacle Navigation & Safety

The robot is equipped with obstacle and cliff detection systems. If it encounters unexpected objects or hazards, it safely pauses, reroutes as needed, and continues the job without intervention.

5. Cloud-Based Oversight

A cloud dashboard provides complete visibility into active and completed jobs. Teams can track progress, monitor asset usage, and access reporting for documentation and quality assurance.

Speed & Accuracy

Our robotic layout system is proven to deliver:

  • Up to 10× faster layout times compared to manual chalk or tape marking.

  • Consistent accuracy within ±3 mm—ideal for high-precision installations.

  • Enhanced collaboration, with clear, annotated prints visible to all trades on-site.

For example, a layout that would typically require 7 hours with traditional methods can now be completed in under an hour.

System Components

  • Robotic Printer Unit
Compact, durable, and easy to transport in a rugged wheeled case.

  • Inks
Multiple ink types available for permanent or temporary use, suitable for various substrates. Color options include black, cyan, and magenta for increased visual clarity.
